The Wedding Day of Chris and Elisa

Recently my sister-in-law got married in Washington DC and I had the amazing privilege of shooting it.  I loved this whole wedding, but I thought it would be better to hear from my husband on this blog post instead.

My family and I are so happy we were able to attend Chris & Slo’s* wedding, which is probably only a fraction of how happy they are now it is finally over. It can’t be easy planning a wedding that will happen in the middle of Washington, D.C. that will be fun for everyone ages 3 ½ – 90 while trying to keep it very personal and genuine, but also official enough to feel like a wedding. What they were able to accomplish with everyone’s help was far beyond anything I ever thought possible, but I am very cynical so that bar isn’t set very high. That notwithstanding, the entire wedding weekend was very special for my family and a memory that we cherish.
My daughter was looking over the photos and kept lamenting, “I miss them so much.” I agree, but know we are all blessed to have been able to be part of such an important moment in Chris & Elisa’s lives and glad we have some photos to reminisce over.

Christi and Matt’s Wedding

This was a wedding full of amazing details.  Christi called it her pinterest wedding, but it takes A LOT of talent to pull off the decor like she did.  I loved getting to see all the details that made it their wedding.  The wedding was at the beautiful Casa Blanca on Brushy Creek venue where the ambiance of the scenery totally matched Christi and Matt as a couple, laid back and beautiful.
Christi and I worked together a couple of years ago and I got to see the beginning of hers and Matt’s relationship.  It was definitely sweet to hear Christi talk about how great everything about Matt was and see the joy on her face as she lit up when she talked about him.  All the stories I heard were great and I was so excited when she called me and said they were getting married.  Enjoy the photos and many blessings on your next step in your lives.

Grayson and Annabelle

So my cousin and his wife make some cute kids.  I’m pretty sure you’ll agree after seeing these photos.  I loved getting to hang out with Alicia and meeting the newest addition to their family, Annabelle.  It was a fun time for almost everyone, except Grayson who wanted me to play the whole time instead of taking pictures….but he had fun when it was his turn in front of the camera.

Grayson is a cutie and a stinker all rolled in one.  He has got some sass but he’s too cute to get stay mad at for it.  I bet his parents feel differently, but I have a hard time when he gives me his innocent expression with his huge blue eyes.

Annabelle was sleeping well and then she gave us some great smiles.  Gotta love these expressions.

Lizzie and Jon_Michael – First United Methodist and Allan House Wedding

I was so looking forward to this wedding and am so happy to be able to show you photos.

Lizzie and Jon-Michael are great couple, I mean a great couple.  Seeing the love that they share was definitely an inspiration.  Both of them compliment each other so well with Lizzie being the friendliest person that makes you feel instantly comfortable and with Jon-Michael being a very kind soul that just makes you feel like you’re an important person no matter how long you’ve known him.

You may see some familiar faces in the photos.  I have a long history of photographing Lizzie and her family.  I have been so blessed to watch her sister’s family from the wedding all the way up until recently when they had their 2nd child.  I cannot wait to see Lizzie and Jon-Michael’s family through the years also.  Thank you again both of you for giving me the great honor of being there at your important day.

  

Rachel, Richard, Jack and the newest addition

I have known Rachel and Richard for quite a while now and  I am so honored that I have had the chance to photograph a lot of their life’s milestones.  It’s been amazing watching their family start and grow to where it is now.

Rachel and Richard and a couple hundred friends and family welcomed Esme into the world in late April, so it was great to see how much she’s grown in just a few months.  She is such a sweet baby that is so in love with her big brother.  It also helps that Jack is just in love with his baby sister and is always doting on her.  I can’t wait to see her personality bloom and hear all the great stories as she grows up.  I can only imagine the fun her and Jack will have together since they are a part of such a wonderful and fun family.

Jack brought along his fancy horse that we later named Several.  Jack is such an amazing kid, he’s 4 years old and already making jokes with puns.  He’s a winner in my book already!

This is a perfect example of how fast everything can change while at a photo shoot.  But it’s also a great example of how wonderful Rachel is and how positive she can be even when her kids are being a little kooky.

This may have been the face when I joked that I was going to eat all of the Smarties I brought for Jack.

Oh man, could she be any cuter with these family dolls!

Esme was a good sport even though it was hot and we were all making her put on a show, this was her drawing the line.  She was not having it, but even with the crying she’s a cutie.

Jennifer and Craig tied the knot.

The day FINALLY came when we left for our trip to the Bahamas to watch as Jennifer and Craig got married.  It seems like the waiting took so long, but the wedding still kind of snuck up on us.

Jennifer and Craig were the most laid back couple for their wedding.  All they cared about was the people that came to the wedding and that they were in the Bahamas to celebrate.  What else could you need to make a perfect wedding?  I have to say that even though Jenn is my best friend, it was an amazing trip.  I mean Jenn and Craig have this knack of making you feel welcome and just ready to kick back with them.  I guess this quality makes them perfect for the restaurant industry, but it really just made our trip that much more special.  Alyssa, my mom, nephew, and I all got to hang out and got to know their families more.  I of course was so excited that Alyssa got to be involved in the wedding…..as the maid of honor no less!

I know I’m not doing the wedding justice in describing to you how great it was.  Just believe me when I say that there was a lot of love that day.  It definitely made my heart swell to see their family joined and also in an absolutely beautiful place.

 

Kelly and Steven

Last month one of my long time friends came to town and we were able to get together for some maternity photos.  Kelly and Steven are amazing people.  They are foster parents who share their patience, love, and caring with anyone they come in contact with.  Their greatness also extends to their son, Caleb, who is so stinking cute and sweet.  He was such a great sport while we dealt with humidity, mosquitos, and looming storms during the photos.  They are going to welcome baby Alyssa (you know I’m excited our daughters having the same name) next month.  Maybe she’ll be born on my birthday!  Since Kelly and Steven live out of town, we had a short window of when we could do these photos, of course it was the day that a crazy thunderstorm came into town.  This was my first shoot to ever get rained out WHILE we were shooting.  We were all soaked by the time we got back to the car.  Don’t worry though, my camera stayed dry…I would walk topless to make sure that happened, but thankfully I didn’t have to.  Anyway, enjoy the photos of this sweet family!

I have to say that without Kelly I probably wouldn’t be where I am today.  Her dad saved me from drowning when we were younger….and obviously I am always thankful to her and her family.  

Hannah and Nick anniversary photos

Ever since getting out of the photography business, I have found it hard to blog on a regular basis.

Hannah and Nick celebrated their one year anniversary in April, and yes I’m that far behind on blogging.  We got together when they were in town and did some anniversary photos.  They are such a cute couple and were more at ease in these photos than all the others.  Getting through a wedding, finishing veterinary school, and moving to Ohio can definitely raise your tensions, but now that they are done with all that….they should be easy going.  Enjoy the photos!

Adrianne and Bryan got hitched

Lately I’ve been able to photograph some of my long time friends and family.  Any not to dis on any of my other clients, but when you’ve known the person you’re photographing for a long time it really makes the photos that much more meaningful.  So when I found out that my long-time friend Adrianne was getting married, I of course volunteered (insisted..whatever) to take their wedding photos.  Adrianne and I grew up together in girl scouts.  Her mom was the troop leader and set the bar pretty high for what I expect out of girl scouts…..a bar I could never meet, but I try.  Her mom being our troop leader meant that all the girls in the troop had a special bond to Adrianne and her family….they became our second family.  So seeing Adrianne getting married was like watching a sister get married and all of us in the troop couldn’t be happier for her!

Adrianne and Bryan are a great compliment to each other.  After watching them interact through this whole “fun” wedding planning process and simultaneously buying a house, I knew that they can weather almost anything that is thrown at them.  I have really enjoyed getting to know Bryan and finding what a caring and funny person he is.  After meeting his family, I can also see where he gets his integrity from.

Seth and Alicia

Last month I had the amazing honor of photographing my cousin’s wedding.  I’ve know Seth my whole life obviously, but I’ve also know Alicia since elementary school.  Just goes to show what a small world it really is.  They had a small wedding at a friend’s house that had some amazing hill country views and huge trees.   I have to say that I’m very excited for Seth and Alicia.  This is an awesome next step for their family and I can’t wait to see where it goes for them.
